                                           What is Istikhara 

Narrated by Jabir ibn `Abd-Allah al-Salami, who said:

"The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to teach his companions to make Istikharah in all things, just as he used to teach them soorahs from the Qur'aan. He (saw) said: `If any one of you is concerned about a decision he has to make, (or in the version narrated by Ibn Mas'ood as: `if any one of you wants to do something…) then let him pray two rak'ahs of non-obligatory prayer

A translation of the supplication is as follows:

Du'a.

اللَÙ`هُمَÙ` إِنِÙ`ÙŠ أَسÙ'تَخِيرُكَ بِعِلÙ'مِكَ وَأَسÙ'تَقÙ'دِرُكَ بِقُدÙ'رَتِكَ وَأَسÙ'أَلُكَ مِنÙ' فَضÙ'لِكَ الÙ'عَظِيمِ فَإِنَÙ`ÙƒÙŽ تَقÙ'دِرُ وَلَا Ø£ÙŽÙ‚Ù'دِرُ وَتَعÙ'لَمُ وَلَا أَعÙ'لَمُ ÙˆÙŽØ£ÙŽÙ†Ù'تَ عَلَÙ`امُ الÙ'غُيُوبِ اللَÙ`هُمَÙ` إِنÙ' كُنÙ'تَ تَعÙ'لَمُ Ø£ÙŽÙ†ÙŽÙ` هَذَا الÙ'Ø£ÙŽÙ…Ù'رَ خَيÙ'رٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ Ø£ÙŽÙ…Ù'رِي فَاقÙ'دُرÙ'هُ لِي وَيَسِÙ`رÙ'هُ لِي ثُمَÙ` بَارِكÙ' لِي فِيهِ وَإِنÙ' كُنÙ'تَ تَعÙ'لَمُ Ø£ÙŽÙ†ÙŽÙ` هَذَا الÙ'Ø£ÙŽÙ…Ù'رَ شَرٌÙ` فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ Ø£ÙŽÙ…Ù'رِي فَاصÙ'رِفÙ'هُ عَنِÙ`ÙŠ وَاصÙ'رِفÙ'نِي عَنÙ'هُ وَاقÙ'دُرÙ' لِيَ الÙ'خَيÙ'رَ Ø­ÙŽÙŠÙ'ثُ كَانَ ثُمَÙ` ارÙ'ضِنِي بِهِ

"Oh Allah, I seek Your counsel by Your knowledge and I seek Your assistance by Your power and I ask You from Your immense favour, for verily You are able while I am not, and verily You know while I do not, and You are the knower of the Unseen. O Allah, if You know this affair ( mention affair here ) to be good for me in relation to my religion, my life and aftermath, my present and future, then decree it and facilitate it for me, and bless me with it, and if You know this affair to be ill for me concerning my religion, my life and end, my present and future, then remove it from me and remove me from it, and decree for me what is good, whatever it may be, and make me satisfied with it."

Ibn Hajr said, commenting on this hadeeth: "Istikharah is a word which means asking Allah to help one make a choice, meaning choosing the best of two things where one needs to choose one of them."

Istikharah can be done in all kind of other permissible matters where a choice needs to be made such as buying something permissible, taking a job or choosing a spouse etc.

It is related in the Hadith that Muhammad (Pbuh) used to teach the Istikharah to the Sahaabah(RTA) like the Qur'an is taught to children. In another Hadith it is stated that 'He does not fail who makes Istikharah and he does not regret who makes consultation.

Conditions of the Salah

One must perform ablution before entering into any Salah and so ablution must be performed before doing Salat al-Istikharah of 2 rakat.

With the Salah completed one should immediately say the supplications al-Istikharah.

Muhammad (Pbuh) said, "If one of you is concerned about some practical undertaking, or about making plans for a journey,or any other matter related to Duniya or Akhirat, he should perform two cycles (rak'atain) of voluntary prayer." Then with all sincerity recite the Dua (given above)

Other ways of Istikhara:-

There are other ways also to perform Istikhara 2 are famous .

1.Say with feeling & imagination of the meaning of each word in the below in your mind. 

subhanaka la `ilma lana "il-la ma `al-lamtanaa (صلي) "in-naka "anta al-`alimu al-

Hakimu

   You say "Glory be to You Allah, we have no knowledge except what you have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise."

then say Kalima tayyiba with feeling & imagination of the meaning of each word  .

Then With first option of you decision (for which you want to do Istikhara ) in you mind smell your left hand anywhere if it smells pleasent to you  then this option is good if it smells bad then this option is harmful for you... similarly try with other options.

2.second way is :-

Say :-Al

lah - besay "Glory be to You Allah, we have no knowledge except what you have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise."ginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

[Mulk 67:1] Most Auspicious is He in Whose control is the entire kingship; and He is Able to do all things.

And open Quran softly .

One of the Ayats will point you toward your decision.

Practical Exercise Try

1. I am a human being ... if this turn out  true then immediately try the next test the 2nd one. else repeat the  Istikhara process.

2. Is Suhaib Anwar ( me ,India) one Messenger of Allah like Noah (AS) , Ibrahim (AS) ,Isa (AS) ,Muhammad (SAS) ..

3.Is Imam Mahdi is in Iraq in 2013,and Dajjal (false Messiah ,Israel) will be killed next year 2014.
