Subject: [wanita-muslimah] Re: UI awards Saudi Arabia king honorary degree + Hiring Indonesian maids may resume on Sept. 12
Wassalam

> JEDDAH â" Recruitment of maids from Indonesia is expected to start again on Sept. 12, sources in Jakarta told Okaz/Saudi Gazette.
> Indonesian officials are working to resume recruitment of workers from the Asian nation and eliminate the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadhâ™s conditions for employing the domestic workers, according to the sources. The conditions include requirements that anyone who employs an Indonesian housemaid must provide pictures of all family members, a recognized certificate of good conduct, a certificate proving that the employer has no criminal record and a map showing the location of the residence.
>
> The Saudi Ministry of Labor has said it considers these conditions to be intrusions into citizensâ™ privacy and stopped recruitment of domestic workers from Indonesia rather than comply with them. Embassy officials are expected to accept employers providing maps showing the locations where the housemaids will work and eliminate the other conditions, according to sources. Hattab Al-Enizi, Spokesman of the Ministry of Labor, said that if an agreement is reached, the organization would immediately announce that recruitment can begin again. Al-Enizi said consultations about non-domestic workers are also underway with officials from Indonesia and the Philippines.
>
> Saad Al-Baddah, Chairman of the National Committee for Recruitment in the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce, said the group has not heard anything about the Indonesian officialsâ™ views.
> Negotiations with officials from the Philippines could take a month or more as Saudi officials strive to protect Saudi citizensâ™ rights and interests, he added.
> The Ministry of Labor issued an official decision last month to stop issuing recruitment visas for domestic workers from Indonesia and the Philippines because conditions announced by the two countries do not suit the nature of Saudi society
