Tasikmalaya stops sending migrant workers

The Tasikmalaya administration in West Java has stopped the sending of migrant workers to four countries, especially women intending to work as maids.
The four countries are Malaysia, Jordan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, Manpower and Transmigration Ministry official Yoyo Ruslia said Tuesday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com. His office had already halted sending migrant workers after receiving a letter from the West Java provincial manpower social agency on July 30, he said.
"Since there was the letter, we've stopped sending informal migrant workers," Yoyo said. "But we are still sending formal workers to companies now."
Yoyo said his office sent six laborers to work as formal employees of Malaysian companies this month.
The office was still providing training for maids seeking employment abroad while waiting for the government travel allowances for migrant workers.
The initiative was taken to protect Tasikmalaya residents sent to overseas, Yoyo said.
