Local Press: Are there jobs for them?

WE have 30 universities from which about 500,000 students will graduate over the next two years. We also have more than 100,000 Saudi students continuing their higher studies abroad who will also soon be entering the professional workforce. Do we have jobs for all these graduates?
Someone may take the initiative and answer the question by saying there are no jobs for them in the government sector. He will say this while we see thousands of jobs in such fields as medicine, engineering, pharmacology and information technology being filled by foreigners. These foreigners are now virtually running the government.
According to statistics, the number of Saudis working in the engineering sector is about 12 percent. A Similar ratio exists for pharmacists. For doctors, the figure is 27 percent.
Many the jobs occupied by foreigners could be filled by Saudis. We will have 30,000 Saudi doctors and a similar number of engineers. We only need to increase their salaries and make them similar to those of the foreigners. We should also give them all the fringe benefits paid to foreign professionals. By doing so we would attract more Saudis without facing shortages. I am confident that Saudis are as qualified as foreigners.
