'Israel-backed' BIN behind deportations: FPI

The hard-line Islamic Defender Front (FPI) has accused the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) as being behind the blocking of two Indonesian activists from entering Jordan, alleging the spy agency is cooperating with its Israeli counterpart, Mossad.

 

FPI spokesman Munarman and fellow activist Mujtahid were denied entry to Jordan and sent back to Indonesia this week. The two activists were part of the "Global March to Jerusalem Movement" and were on their way to Jerusalem to campaign for "peace and religious understanding" in the city.

 

Mujtahid, an activist who has participated in various international conferences on anti-Zionist issues, was deported to Indonesia on March 31, according to the FPI spokesman, who had been deported earlier.

 

"Clearly, the Indonesian intelligence agents who provided information to the Jordanian intelligence agency are lackeys of the Zionists," Munarman said in a text message to The Jakarta Post.

 

"This incident clearly shows that the Israeli intelligence network spans across many countries, including Indonesia and Jordan."

 

Munarman recently held a meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's aides in the Presidential Palace while FPI members joined a massive rally opposing the fuel-price hike policy on Friday.

 

While Indonesia has no diplomatic relations to with Israel, Munarman alleged that the BIN was heavily influenced by Mossad.

 

He said Indonesian intelligence agents were "fearful of activists in anti-Zionist movements" and urged a radical clean up within the BIN.
