Prince Miteb: National Day instills spirit of hard work

The National Day is a great occasion that instills the spirit of giving among the Saudis, encouraging them to work harder to boost the country's development, said Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, state minister and commander of the National Guard.
In a statement on the occasion of the National Day, Prince Miteb commended the sacrifices made by King Abdul Aziz to establish the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and set out its basic principles.
He underscored the government's efforts to strengthen the armed forces to defend the country, its holy places and achievements, by providing them with modern weaponry and advanced training.
He said the celebration of National Day would contribute to strengthening the love of the nation among the Saudis, especially the younger generation, and encourage them to extend more efforts in the service of the nation.
In a similar statement, Hail Gov. Prince Saud bin Abdul Mohsen said citizenship doubles people's responsibility toward their nation. He expected that Saudi Arabia would march to greater progress and prosperity under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
Prince Fahd bin Abdullah, president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and chairman of Saudi Arabian Airlines, also emphasized the significance of the National Day and the remarkable progress achieved by Saudi Arabia in various sectors.
Speaking about GACA's contributions toward the Kingdom's economic and social progress, he said the Saudi airports currently handle more than 54.5 million passengers annually.
Prince Fahd disclosed plans to purchase 50 more new aircraft to strengthen Saudia's domestic and international fleet. The national carrier operates about 400 flights daily and more than 500 flights daily during peak Haj, Umrah and summer seasons.
Minister of Civil Service Abdul Rahman Al-Barrak highlighted the importance of the 82nd anniversary of the Kingdom's unification. He lauded the unprecedented progress achieved by Saudi Arabia since the unification till date.
Reviewing developments in the field of employment, the minister said this year the Kingdom has witnessed the greatest employment movement in its history, adding that the number of those who joined the civil service since the beginning of this year reached 299,108 Saudis.
Minister of Culture and Information Abdul Aziz Khoja also hailed the Kingdom's giant accomplishments in various fields under King Abdullah's prudent leadership. "On this dearest day, King Abdul Aziz demonstrated his courage and wisdom by unifying the Kingdom and developing it into a modern welfare state," Khoja said.
He highlighted the epic battles fought by King Abdul Aziz for the country's unification, saying it reflected his heroism and wisdom. Khoja noted the giant projects being established during the time of King Abdullah, accelerating the Kingdom's development. He underscored the king's efforts to enhance Saudi Arabia's international reputation.
