Ini yang disebut oleh Albus Dumbledore sebagai Self fulfilling prophecy. Nasib Voldermort ditentukan karena dia percaya oleh ramalan yang dibuat Trelawney.
Kalo orang sosiologi sering bilang self fulfilling prophecy sebagai realitas itu dikonstruksikan [secara sosial], meskipun istilah self fulfilling prophecy juga di cetuskan oleh seorang sosiolog robert merton.
Ada orang nulis bahwa Yahudi adalah serigala dan kaum gentile adalah ayam (siapapun itu yang nulis), maka karena percaya begitu saja terhadap tulisan itu, si orang-orang 'gentile' percaya bahwa mereka adalah ayam (dan bermental ayam) yang akan dimakan oleh serigala yahudi.
Parahnya, ketika para gentile eropa sudah menyadari bahwa mereka bukan ayam (mungkin setelah diterapi oleh psikiater sudah tidak merasa sebagai ayam dan berubah menjadi serigala yak... :P), sekarang giliran orang2 muslim, yang dulunya menganggap yahudi sebagai dhimmi (warga negara kelas 2) sekarang giliran kena mentalitas jadi ayam yang merasa mau diterkam serigala.
Dan serigala selama ini dilambangkan sebagai binatang yang licik keji dan culas, sementara ayam adalah lambang binatang yang adem ayem (ayam sih), suka ngangkrem.
Ngomong-ngomong tentang ayam, jadi teringat filem animasi Chicken Run, cerita tentang segerombolan ayam petelur dipimpin oleh Ginger yang mau melarikan diri dari peternakan Ms Tweedy. Setelah berkali gagal menerobos pagar, temennya si Bunty bilang bahwa gak mungkin mereka bisa keluar pagar karena pagarnya tinggi sekali. Mendengar komentar itu si Ginger bilang ke Bunty bahwa pagar yang menghalangi pelarian Bunty hanya ada di kepala Bunty sendiri bukan pagar peternakan yang sebenarnya. Dan itu adalah kekuatan pikiran.. untuk menjadi ayam
Ngomong-ngomong soal bagaimana kekuatan pikiran.. Tadi malam nonton presentasi Caroline Casey di situs TED (http://www.ted.com/talks/caroline_casey_looking_past_limits.html). Tentang bagaimana dia yang divonis dokter sebagai legally blind sejak kecil, diasuh oleh orang tuanya bahwa dia "tidak buta", sampai dia baru menyadari pada usia 18 tahun ketika dia ingin punya SIM dan menjadi pembalap.
Tapi karena determinasinya dia mampu meyakinkan orang bahwa dia tidak buta, menjadi konsultan internasional, menjadi CEO organisasi internasional.
Bahkan mimpi masa kecilnya menjadi Mogli menjadi kenyataan ketika dia berhasil menjadi pelatih gajah di India dan menjelajahi India sejauh 1000 kilometer dengan gajahnya untuk melakukan fund rising bagi penderita tuna netra. Dan itu adalah kekuatan pikiran... untuk menjadi serigala
Moral of today's story... Kalo ente percaya pasangan ente selingkuh maka suatu saat dia akan bener2 selingkuh... :p
