We decided to enjoy the good weather of the season and meet on the sea shore in the Bat Galim area. Noa our friend organized the encounter and each of us brought some food or equipment, including chairs and table-cloths. We set relaxed with the waves in the background and conversed as usual. Of course we first talked about the Holiday of Sukkot: like most Jewish Holidays it combines an agricultural aspect – the Holiday of Harvest – and a religious aspect – happiness of the Torah with ending the cycle of Torah reading and starting a new one (our friend Irit invited us to join the Simchat Torah celebrations in the synagogue she prays in).

 

Another theme we discussed was the meaning of the "Hamsa" in the different religions: in Islam the five fingers of the Hamsa symbolize the five central principles on which the Islamic religion is based; in Judaism the Hamsa is known as the "hand of five" or "hand of Miriam" – named after the sister of Moses and Aaron. The five fingers of the Hamsa represent the five books of Moses. In the center of the Hamsa there is, sometimes, an eye which stands against the evil eye.

 

During Sukkot there are several events and festivals in Haifa: the Film Festival: Rachel came to the encounter after watching the film "Orchestra of Exiles" that covers the 4-year journey of Huberman, who struggled to recruit Jewish musicians from Europe, saving hundreds of families from the approaching Holocaust and founding the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Rachel's grandfather was among the saved musicians and the touching story echoed additional personal stories of other members of the group. Close to where we met there was another festival – the Bat Galim Festival – hence we were able to enjoy a modern dance performance of a women group from Tura, illustrating the challenges of the modern woman who need to juggle many things all the time.

החלטנו לרגל מזג האוויר הנאה בעונה זו של השנה להיפגש על שפת הים באזור בת גלים.  נועה חברתנו ארגנה את המפגש, כל אחת הביאה כיבוד או ציוד, כולל כסאות ומפות וישבנו לנו בנחת, כשברקע הגלים המתנפצים על החוף ושוחחנו כהרגלנו.  מובן שתחילה עסקנו בנושא חג הסוכות: כמו רוב החגים היהודיים הוא משלב בתוכו חג חקלאי - חג האסיף, חג עם הקשר דתי - שמחת תורה לרגל סיום קריאת התורה והתחלתה מחדש (חברתנו אירית הזמינה את הבנות להגיע להקפות שמחת תורה בבית הכנסת בו היא מתפללת). 

 

נושא נוסף ששוחחנו עליו היה המשמעות של החמסה בדתות השונות:  באיסלאם חמש האצבעות בחמסה מסמלות את חמשת העקרונות המרכזיים עליהם מבוססת דת האיסלאם:  ביהדות, החמסה ידועה כ"יד החמש" או "ידה של מרים" על שם אחותם של משה ואהרון.  חמש האצבעות של החמסה, מייצגות לפי האמונה את חמשת חומשי התורה.  במרכז החמסה יש לעתים עין וזו עין נגד עין הרע. 

 

בחיפה בחג הסוכות יש מספר אירועים ופסטיבלים: פסטיבל הסרטים - רחל הגיעה לפגישה לאחר שצפתה בסרט "תזמורת של גולים", הסוקר את מסעו בן 4 השנים  של הוברמן, שנאבק וגייס מוזיקאים יהודים מאירופה והציל מאות משפחות יהודיות מהשואה המתקרבת וייסד את התזמורת הפילהרמונית הישראלית. סבה של רחל היה בין המוסיקאים שניצלו והסיפור הנוגע ללב עורר כמובן סיפורים אישיים נוספים בין הבנות האחרות בקבוצה.  סמוך למקום פגישתנו נערך פסטיבל נוסף – בת גלים – ולכן זכינו עם סיום הפגישה לצפות במופע ריקוד מודרני של להקת הנשים מטורה שהמחישה את קשייה של האישה המודרנית להיות כל הזמן "גם וגם".

بما انه الطقس كان جميلا قررنا ان نلتقي على الشاطئ في منطقة بات غليم. زميلتنا نوعا نظمت هذا اللقاء, وكل واحدة فينا احضرت معها ضيافة بسيطة او معدات بسيطة, تشمل كراسي مفارش للمائدة وجلسنا بهدوء, حيث صوت الامواج على الشاطئ ونحن تحدثنا كالمعتاد. في البداية تحدثنا عن عيد المظلة , مثل اغلبية اعياد اليهود مضمونه عيد الزراعة – عيد الحصاد, عيد فيه رابطة دينية – فرحة التوراة لحظة الانتهاء من قرأة التوراة وبدايتها من جديد (زميلتنا ايريت دعت الفتيات الى المشاركة في فرحة إتمام التوارة في الكنيس الذي يصلون فيه ).

هناك  موضوع آخر تناقشنا فيه وهو أهمية كف الخمسة في  الأديان المختلفة: في الإسلام خمسة أصابع يمثل المبادئ الرئيسية الخمسة التي بني عليها الإسلام،  في اليهودية خمسة معروفة  ككف  الخمسة "أو" يد مريم " أخت موسى وهارون. خمسة أصابع من الخمسة، يعتقد أنها تمثل خمسة كتب من التوراة. واحيانا يوجد في كف الخمسة عين وهي من عين الحسد.

في حيفاء في فترة عيد العرش يوجد العديد من الفعاليات والمهرجانات: مهرجان الافلام - راحيل وصلت للاجتماع بعد كانت قد شاهدت فيلم "أوركسترا من المنفيين"، الذي يغطي رحلة إلى هوبرمان في أربع سنوات، الذي قاتل وجند موسيقيين يهود من أوروبا وأنقذ مئات من العائلات اليهودية من المحرقة القادمة وأنشأ أوركسترا إسرائيلية. أوركسترا. جدها لراحيل كان بين الموسيقيين الذين نجوا من هذا الموضوع الذي يأتي على الوجع حيث اثار العديد من القصص الشخصية بين الزميلات الاخر في المجموعة. بالقرب من مكان التقاءنا يقام احتفال اخر – بيت غليم – لذلك كانت لنا الفرصة في نهاية لقاءنا مشاهدة أداء الرقص الحديث من قبل فرقة نساء من الطورة حيث عبرت عن الصعوبات التي تواجهها المرأة العصرية أن يكون دائما "كل من
